Earthing is a huge factor when it comes to our electrical system since the electrical ecosystem is not very ideal. It is always exposed to high voltage ambushes, faulty current, short circuits, surges and lightning which is a colossal risk. Therefore, Earthing is extremely important in a system that has running electricity to avert damage to life and property. Through earthing, the electric current is discharged into the earth through a low resistance wire.
Poor earthing system.
The earthing wire is not properly connected to the earthing pit, thereby the electrical power is not neutralized to 0.
Faulty fuses can also lead to deadly electric shocks.
Simply speaking, electrodes have plates inside them in order to increase the surface area. A plated electrodes' main purpose is die-sinking electric discharge machining.
The flat plate shape is for making molds and silver, copper or graphite can be used as the material in making them. The plate basically has a positive potential which helps in attracting and capturing the electrons that the cathode emits.
When earthed compounds are installed, the moisture around its soil is retained with the help of back fill compound, preventing any leakage of electrical currents from your earthing system. Therefore, it is extremely important to have back fill compound during installation of the electrode. This helps in preventing any life hazards.
Electrical earthing helps transfer sudden discharge of electrical energy through a low resistance wire, into the earth. These following factors determine the longevity of an earthing system:
The effectiveness of an earthing system is well determined by the soil conditions.
Soil resistivity is another key factor.
Material used in the back fill compound, it should not be affected by harsh cold weather or susceptible to expansion due to heat.
The location of the earthing pit and the right amount of moisture around it.
The resistance value of the earthing system.
The selection of the right material for the earthing system.
Earthing simply refers to the discharge of excessive current into the earth ensuringthe protection of life and property. It is an important part of any installation as earthing helps in preventing any electrocution. Earthing, therefore, is mandatory at any place that has electrical appliances and equipment installed.

Earthing is important to help connect the exposed conductive parts to the earthing pit so that incase of any faulty current flow it is directed straight into the earth.
Protective Bonding on the other hand is when you apply a low impedance path to the exposed conductive parts to extraneous conductive parts, so that there is an equal potential throughout the installation. This helps in avoiding any hazardous potential.
Incase the service pipe of an incoming water source is made out of plastic and there lies no unanticipated contact with Earth, this will not require any protective equipotential bonding as it is not an extraneous conductive part.
Here area set ofa few quoted values as per the BS:
For a TN-S earthing arrangement the value is 0.8 ohm
For TN-S earthing arrangement, the value is evaluated to 0.35 ohm
For the TT Earthing arrangement, the set value is 21 ohms.
These values hold huge significance, thereby it is important for you to be well versed with them- though it may vary during on-site testing.
The Indian Electricity Rules of 1956, made under Section 37 of the Indian Electricity Act of 1910 was re-enacted as The Electricity Act 2003, which states very clearly that until and unless a person holds a certificate of competency to perform a required duty, he/she is not permitted to carry out the operation. The permit is recognized and issued by the State government, until then the person is unauthorized to carry out any electrical installations.
Therefore one needs to be trained, experienced and should be a competency certificate holder in order to carry out any electrical installations. A gas engineer is inadequate to carry such operations as they do not posses the aforementioned qualification and knowledge.
Metallic kitchen furniture are not extraneous conductive parts and is not likely to be exposed to any such conductive parts, therefore earthing or bonding is not mandatory.
Also, according to BS 7671:2018, which is a widely accepted standard globally, there is no search requirement of installing earthing or bonding to metallic furniture in commercial catering kitchens.
Basically protective bonding is required for parts that are considered to be extraneous conductive parts. Incase of a metal oil tank, the service pipe may require bonding if it falls under the category of extraneous conductive parts, but generally the oil tank does not necessarily require one.
Some gas and petroleum stations however require lighting protection. The NFPA 780 states the safety measures that are to be taken for structures containing flammable liquids, gases and vapors, from lighting. These measures should be in accordance with IEC 62305 and NBC 2016 guidelines.
There is no use of protective bonding if the material does not qualify as an extraneous conductive part. Therefore, for water or gas pipes that are made out of plastic require no protective bonding as they are not conductive. But it needs to be ensured that there aren't any unanticipated connections to earth through the installation.
When Protective Multiple Earthing conditions are applied in an installation, the main Protective bonding conductors are bound to carry "diverted neutral" currents in the process of a PEN conductor. Therefore in the case of armouring of a cable used as a CPC there will be some thermal stress due to earth fault current. The cross sectional area is the variable of the armouring used as CPC that determines the withstanding ability when subjected to the earth fault current. This can be determined by 2 methods:
1) Formula stated in Regulation 543.1 3.
2) Another place to find the method of calculation is using table 54.7 of BS7671.
Remedies Earthing System's electrolytic grounding techniques have unique and modern design (pipe in pipe & strip in pipe technology) which helps in slowing down the normal wear and tear due to corrosion and helps to sustain functional utility for a long period of time of around 25 years.
Our products are manufactured with material of high quality standards that are effective and reliable.
Remedies Mobile Earth is the new generation portable earthing device, which can be operated through any mobile appliance. Mobile Earthing Electrodes are used for the protection of sensitive equipment by safely conducting harmful VHF, harmonics, surges, spikes unbalances and short circuit into the ground. It can be installed vertically & horizontally and can be re-used for about 72 times.
A Spike lighting protector rod one of the components in a spike lighting protection system. A metal conductor is placed on top of a building in order to protect it from lightning damages. This metal conductor is further connected to the earth with the help of a conventional lighting rod or Spike arrester. This is usually made out of copper.
Surge Protection devices help in protecting electrical appliances from voltage surges in an alternating current circuit. A voltage surge may go upto a 1000 volts lasting from between 1 to 30 microseconds. These surge protectors thereby help in diverting the surge current effectively to the grounding wires to finally to the earthing pit, protecting the electrical appliance from any damage.
We manufacture a plethora of earthing related products that include: chemical earthing electrodes, GI earthing electrodes, copper earthing electrodes, copper bounded Earth rods ,conventional lightning arrester, advance lightning arrester, protective bonding products and so on.
Conventional salts and charcoal when used in Earthing, unless is tested for a TCLP, leaches over a period of time and eats away the pipe electrode. It is recommended in IEEE that increasing the diameter of the electrode will only reduce the earth resistance by 10% whereas increasing the depth of the electrode reduces the earth resistance by 40%.
